The more prepared you are, the more confident you become.
On October 31st, the schedule for this day's classes was moved forward and also ended early because the next day, November 1st, would be All Saints' Day, which is a public holiday in the Philippines. It was said that many students would like to go to their hometowns with their families. So, I only got to handle one section in the morning class, 10-Newton. I took this no-study opportunity to brief the students about my final demo and take pictures with the students since I hadn’t had the chance to do so before. 10-Newton, what a sweet section...<3
Since it wasn’t a very effective day for studying and the classes ended early, there was no material or activity given for 10-Newton during the class. Mr. Banigon asked me to brief 10-Newton on everything that needed to be taken care of for my final demo so that the students could cooperate well. Just as Mr. Banigon recommended, I taught them how to greet in Indonesian, such as "Selamat siang," which translates to "Good afternoon," and "Sampai jumpa lagi," which translates to "See you again." They looked so excited in learning Indonesian language. It warmed my heart a lot <3. In addition, I assigned some students to take on the roles of leading the greeting, praying, and reporting attendance. I also asked them to bring their name tags for my final demo because, of course, I still hadn’t memorized all their names. So, I think that was everything I needed to brief them on that day. I thought if anything was left out, I could just contact the section leader to inform the classmates.
After the briefing, I took the opportunity to take pictures with the students since I hadn’t had the chance to do so before. So, yeah, we took lots of cute pictures together!
Not long after that, I finally went back home and continued to revise my lesson plan, adjusting it with the feedback Mr. Banigon had given me.
On November 1st, 2024, as I mentioned earlier, it was a public holiday in the Philippines, All Saints' Day. So, it was a day off from school. However, as a student teacher, I still needed to prepare for my final demo on Monday. I had to prepare everything for my final demo to the best of my ability because the next day we would have a tour in Tagaytay with the lecturers from PNU. I couldn’t prepare anything the next day, and if I started preparing everything the day before, it would be too exhausting and stressful for me.
I prepared a puzzle as the media for my review session. Let me explain the puzzle.
First, since the last lesson I taught was about the mean, I provided the numbers, and the students were asked to find the mean for the numbers in each box. Here's the questions:
Second, after they found the mean for the numbers, they needed to find the answer pieces and attach them to the correct question box. Here's the design and how it looks like in real-life version (it is flipped because I need to flip it later for the magic part, hehe).
Third, after all the answer pieces were correctly attached to their respective places, it was time for the magic. I would lead them to flip the puzzle, and voilà , these sentences would appear! What a magic, right? Haha! Here's the design and the real-life version:
Okay, so I basically already explained the whole idea behind my magic puzzle.
Actually, that was all I did today—preparing the puzzle and revising my lesson plan. I think I will prepare everything in more detail when it’s one day before, haha.
See you soon in my next update! <3
