There’s a unique joy in seeing students shine outside the classroom — their passions and creativity on full display.
On October 29th, 2024, there was a big event at Araullo High School. It was a booth fair prepared by the students. There were booths for entertainment as well as for food and drinks. Since there was an event, the schedule for classes was slightly rearranged. In the morning, I only handled one class, 10-Descartes, and the afternoon classes were moved forward. It was so exciting to see the students' passion in running their booths. I also got to taste some of the food and bought items from a few booths. What an exciting day it was!
In the morning, my cooperating teacher, Mr. Banigon, informed me that the class for 10-Newton was suspended because the students were busy running their booths. So, I would only be handling one section that morning, which was 10-Descartes at 9:15 am. Since I had arrived at school early, I took some time to explore the students' booths. I roamed around the event with my friends, Rama and Akrom, while others were still teaching their classes. While exploring, I got to taste some of the food offered by the students.
Finally, at 9:15 am, my time roaming around the event had ended. I went to the classroom to give the students an activity prepared by Mr. Banigon. When the students arrived, I gave them the activity right away. Only five students attended the class, but Mr. Banigon had assured me that this was okay, as the others were still busy with their booths. He asked me to tell the attending students to inform their classmates about the activity, which they would need to complete as homework. Before the class for 10-Descartes ended, I had a chance to chat with the students a bit about Indonesian and Philippine cultures.
The morning class ended at 10:00 am. Afterward, I headed back downstairs to the event venue to meet up with my friends again. We bought onion rings from the food and drink booths, and then we roamed over to the entertainment booths. There, I found and bought a very cute pair of hair clips which I liked a lot!
As I mentioned earlier, the afternoon classes were moved forward from 12:30 pm to 11:15 am. So, after exploring the booths for a second time, I went back to the classroom to give activities for 10-Newton and 10-Descartes. This time, I prepared the activity for the statistics lesson. Many students were still absent because some of them had to continue managing their booths, though there were fewer absences compared to the morning class. For the students who were absent, just like the one in the morning class, the activity given became their assignment to complete at home.
This is the activity that I prepared:
Section 10-Newton:
Section 10-Descartes:
By 1:00 pm, I had finished handling both 10-Newton and 10-Descartes. Not long after, I headed back to the PNU hostel and immediately started preparing for my second demo. So, see you after I’m done with my second demo, hehe! <3
